The first European company to have implemented a scheme of the limo, was the company Texxi (United Kingdom). The most popular use of limo Texxi – it rent a van to deliver a people after the concerts and football matches. In Canada and the U.S. limo – is something intermediate between a limo and limo (jitney translated as “pyatitsentovik”), and in some cities (Detroit, Pittsburgh) as a limo stand, operating without a license. In Rhode Island, for example, licensed “halfpenny plate” used for public transport. In the U.S. the very first shuttle limo appeared at the beginning of last century, when it became available units with an internal combustion engine. At the same time the limo has become a serious competitor for buses and trams, parasitizing on public routes and catching the passengers, offering them a lower rate. Profitability “pyatitsentovikov” has increased so much that the tram company forced the Government to ban shuttle business. The oil crisis of the early 70′s sparked the revival of SUVes, but mostly in the older areas of large cities. A further increase in prices of public transport has led to an inevitable increase in the number of “pyatitsentovikov.
